Bhaskar Bhat a.k.a Muggy is from Bangalore, India. Back in 2009, he was invited by a friend to try rock climbing in Hampi, inarguably India's bouldering mecca. This was his intro to outdoor sports. He went on to practice other disciplines of climbing, followed by backpacking and mountaineering. Eventually, Muggy quit his 12-year corporate career to work and play in the outdoors full-time. Having seen (and endured) injuries in the field, he jumped at the opportunity to take a WFR course in 2014, realizing that it was a very potent tool for managing backcountry emergencies. As soon as he felt ready to teach others, Muggy applied for the Instructor Training Course. Aside from being a NOLS Wilderness Medicine instructor, he works as a freelance experiential educator and an instructor/advisor for Bangalore Climbing Initiatives, a group he co-founded to develop rock-climbing and introduce people to the sport.
