That’s me on the left…with NOLS Wilderness Medicine Instructor Doug Caum! It’s been an interesting road to teaching for NOLS Wilderness Medicine! I started the journey as a NOLS instructor in ’91, ultimately working summers for NOLS while being a full-time middle and high school science teacher in Albuquerque, NM. Summers traveling and adventuring with my wife were rapidly becoming a priority. In order to stay connected with the community, and continue to further the mission of the school in other ways, I found a niche teaching for NOLS Wilderness Medicine. I believe strongly that wilderness medical skills are integral to wilderness leadership, so here I’ve been for three years! I have a blast teaching each of the courses and working with the excellent instructors and wonderful students!
