Born in West Virginia, Drew is a mountaineer by birth and vocation, and started his outdoor education career at 16, working at a ropes course and teaching rock climbing at his local Boy Scout summer camp. After graduating from Gettysburg College, he spent three years in the Adirondacks of upstate New York at a summer camp and outdoor education center and learning how to be a carpenter. Then he came to Wyoming and NOLS in 2006 as an instructor. Drew has worked a number of in-town jobs including Teton Valley cook, Rocky Mountain facilities assistant, and most recently Patagonia Mountain Program Supervisor while working Climbing, Backpacking, Mountaineering and Caving courses. He became a Wilderness Medicine Instructor in 2013 and volunteers with Fremont County Search and Rescue. In his free time, he enjoys cooking things over fires, brewing beer, watching sports of any kind, drinking maté and reading good journalism.
