Emily’s first love of rivers came from a family vacation rafting down the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon. She continued to pursue this love by taking the NOLS Whitewater River Expedition when she was 17. Emily then became a river guide on the Youghiogheny River in Pennsylvania. Emily graduated from Allegheny College with an Environmental Science degree after studying the macroinvertebrates in the streams of northwestern PA. When Emily isn’t on the river, you can find her hiking with her black lab, Kaya, working at a rock wall and zip-line for individuals with special needs, or working as a physician assistant in two small community emergency departments in central PA.
