JohnRey brings a diverse emergency medicine background to NOLS Wilderness Medicine having worked as a Flight Nurse, Emergency Department/Trauma Nurse, and U.S. Law Enforcement Park Ranger Paramedic. JohnRey’s love for emergency medicine and the outdoors began with a 2002 Wilderness First Responder course and involved 11 years spent with the Marin County Sheriff’s Office Type I Mountain Rescue Team. Presently, JohnRey is humbled to lead a team of EMTs, paramedics, nurses, and managers in his role overseeing ground ambulance and emergency helicopter services. With a passion for both leadership and still staying connected to the field, he continues to regularly work shifts as a helicopter-based Flight Nurse. When not working in his “real” office or helicopter office, you’ll find JohnRey running outside, exploring around the globe, or heading to the nearby Sierra’s for a mountain fix.
