Kathryn Martin

Wilderness Emergency Medicine Technician & Instructor

Kathryn Martin

Kathryn sparked her accidental relationship with Outdoor Education when she picked up a heavy backpack and thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail. From there it was all downhill. She quickly left the flatlands of Boston, MA and traveled north to the Green Mountains of Vermont to earn a degree in Anthropology and Biology. Kathryn's interest in medicine grew from a passion for exploring wild places and teaching others. In 2013, she took a WEMT course with NOLS Wilderness Medicine, and began working as an EMT for Fremont County. Kathryn took her NOLS Instructor Course (IC) in May 2015 and teaches climbing, canyoneering, and backpacking courses. Currently, Kathryn is attending a Physician Assistant program in California. She is sneaking in NOLS field courses, long trail runs, rock climbing, and petting other peoples' dogs when she can.
