Paul began his career with NOLS in 2007 teaching sailing courses at the NOLS Mexico campus on the Sea of Cortez. He's been playing and working on boats since he was a teenager in Chicago, and loves the experience that traveling on water brings him and the students he takes out on courses. Since leading his first NOLS course in 2007, Paul has become a senior field instructor with NOLS, has trained other NOLS instructors to teach sailing, and has led numerous backpacking, sea kayaking, and whitewater rafting courses. In 2016, Paul moved to Washington with his partner and their self-built tinyhouse to work full-time at NOLS Pacific Northwest. When not helping students get ready for the field, Paul loves surfing in warm and cold water, whitewater kayaking, and sharing a cup of tea with people.
