NOLS expanded its offerings to organizations in an effort to share its proven leadership and risk management curriculums with like-minded clients who share the school’s passion for experiential learning.
In 1999, the world’s leading aeronautics and space program approached NOLS to utilize the school’s innovative leadership curriculum. Leveraging the expedition model, the agency found that their participants could increase their threshold for uncertainty by adapting to variables that inevitably arise and complicate a group’s plans. Through that first engagement, the school has developed and grown its business-to-business solutions for organizations across many industries and areas of expertise.
All teams need inspiration and opportunities to focus on shared outcomes—whether your team is newly formed or a group of seasoned executives.
NOLS has worked with groups from GE, Timbuk2, and Mountain Equipment Co-op to help them improve their communication skills, practice decision-making techniques, and coalesce around community values. The same lessons NOLS uses to prep astronauts for the unpredictable rigors of space will help your team stay focused on the goal in the chaos of business.
To succeed in college and beyond, teens and young adults need the skills to lead themselves, their peers, and their communities. Integrate a custom NOLS expedition into your institution’s curriculum and give your students a pause from their hectic school lives, a chance to build connections with their peers, and the opportunity to develop skills that will serve them long after graduation.
With a history of high outcomes serving a range of educational institutions, from secondary schools and college prep to over half of the top 10 MBA program in the U.S., NOLS is experienced in providing a supportive environment for students to collaborate and thrive.
NOLS expeditions for military clients provide hands-on small team leadership experience and training in technical fieldcraft techniques. Our faculty is trained to work with a range of military organizations from service academy students and test pilots to the special operations community.
For over 15 years, military teams have used NOLS to improve interpersonal skills, practice leadership in a remote, resource-limited environment, and learn alternate strategies for risk management and group decision-making.
Risk management training is invaluable for outdoor programs, adventure outfitters and guide services. From non-profit led weekend groups to full-service travel and tour companies, ensuring your volunteer trip leaders, outdoor educators and professional guides are prepared to manage uncertainty is our top priority.
NOLS Risk Services provides solutions for organizations of all sizes. Our faculty have worked with REI, American Mountain Guides Association, The Wharton School, and many more to strengthen their risk management training practices.
